Makeup for 1st Heat - Miss Oriental 2009

Hello again! Sorry for the late post, I have been swamped with so many jobs recently that had been unable to update my blog.

Anyway to kick things off, here is my entry for the preview round of the Miss Oriental 2009 organized by D Junction Fun Pub on the 23rd of January.
Kim is my close as well as long lost childhood friend. The last time I saw her was about 15 years ago & I recently re-united with her after joining up with Bodycare Studio late last August.
Anyway, Kim was never into pageants and this is her 1st and only experience.
But with enough encouragement she finally decided to give it a try.

This was also my 1st experience in a pageant and it was both tough and stressful being surrounded by the other senior and professional makeup artist & hairstylist. There were 4 categories up for grabs as well but that didn't matter to me coz at that point, I knew my only mission was to do my best for Kim to look her best.
To make things worse, all makeup artists were to use L'Oreal products which was a major sponsor for the event. So it was kind of difficult when I've got so used to my own stuff and especially m.a.c!

Going back to the competition, 1st round the contestants had to parade Harajuku outfits from one of the sponsor & Kim was lucky to have the Cute Lolita outfit! Other contestants wore Lolita Maid & Gothic.

Next round was elegant wear sponsored by Sueno Ninas which is owned by my friends Azean & Sasha Samilee. Click on HERE to see more of their exclusive outfits!

Finally for the last round, the contestants were required to parade a modern cheong sam.

This dress that Kim wore was an outstanding piece specially created & designed by my designer friend Beatrice Pong!
She was also the one who created Mandy dress in my last Blog feature.

Makeup for Olumis Fashion Show

Last 17th & 18th of January, I was given the great opportunity to work with one of Sabah's leading fashion houses - Olumis Borneo Fashion Batik in conjunction with this year's Buy Malaysian Products Campaign launched in the 1 Borneo Hypermall Atrium.

Here are models who were involved in the runway show with makeup done by me & hairdo assisted by Junzuenn from Olumis:

The makeup concept for this fashion show was indeed simple which focused more on classic beauty : I used gold pigments from m.a.c as an eyeshadow base, heavy top eyeliner, bronzer from the Bodyshop and a deep red lip color from Skin Foods.

Bridal Makeup for Nikah, Berinai & Sanding Reception

December was a busy time for me & had no time to update my bridal works for my blog.
Any how I am still keeping my promise to posts all my work as requested by my beloved clients.
This was one of my work for Ana who had her engagement ceremony on :
~ 2nd December 2008 ~
Here she is before makeup at her residence in Kepayan Ridge :

For her engagement I just went with the simple & clean look,
focusing more on soft radiant skin & a natural finish.

~ 3rd December 2008 ~
Her wedding reception was held at the Dewan PPS, Sembulan as early as 10am which lasted till 5 in the evening!
Here she is all dolled up for her 'berinai' ceremony.
The bridal boutique actually sent the wrong dress so we just had to make do with what we had.

Focus as always, evolved around intensive eye shadow, heavy liner, the works!
She wore a reddish tone which meant I had to 'up' the lipcolor to compliment her look.
It was indeed a challenge to keep her looking refined without over doing it because
not everyone can carry red well!

Moving on to her next change for her 'sanding' ceremony, blue was all the rage!
You know I never liked blue makeup on anyone unless required & this was inevitable ;)
So I tried to work my way through & gave her a more lush lipcolor & a change of eyes shadow.

Some may think this might be over the top for a bride but it all depends on lighting really.
In reality, it doesn't look this harsh but only when captured in film from a close distance.
All in all I am still satisfied that her complexion was ever so radiant & stood throughout the entire ceremonies. That' s why we pay for expensive products for better quality makeup!

Anyways here she is with me above & below again with her youthful looking husband!

Bridal Makeup for Morning Mass

~ 29th November 2008 ~

November was indeed one of the busiest months of the year.
It seemed that everyone wanted to get married as soon as Puasa was over.
Anyways, after several months of planning & decision making,
it was time for my new friend Fanny to tie the knot ' Wedding of the year' style!
Here is she before and after :

Well frankly speaking the pic above isn't a fully done makeup
but I 'd just like to share with you the progress of her transition.
From uneven to flawless.
Naturally she had very fair skin so my job was just to deliver glowing
complextion & big eyes plus full lips.

Since the light in room was insufficient, I had to use natural sunlight to give me a better view during my entire work process.
Basically, her base & blush from m.a.c & eyeshadow from KATE. I decided to apply a subtle smoky technique using earth toned colors to give her that warm natural finish.
Eyes were finished off with medium volume lashes &
a neutral lipstick in mauve to compliment her entire look.

Her shoulder length bob was pulled back into an inverse bun to keep things neat since she'd be wearing a personalized veil decorated with lace fringe & scattered with over 350 Swarovski crystals.

bouquet that I absolutely adore!

After her Wedding mass, we then proceed back to her residence for a quick hair change as she had a luncheon or her guests at Ocean Seafood.

She looks lovely no matter how I did her hair.
It was a simple do with some floral accessorising!
Indeed it was a busy morning and there is soon to be more later in the evening.

Bridal Makeup for Reception @ Dewan PPS, Sembulan

~ 22nd November 2009 ~

With one event after the other it's been tough to keep track of all the work that I have done. However I will not let all my beloved fans down!
Here is another Bride that I made up in Dewan PPS, Sembulan.
When I met her, her initial concerns were heavy makeup.
She was worried that she'd look like a drag queen as she had an unpleasant experience with a previous makeup artist who did her makeup in her village in Membakut. Yikes!
So I after some talk and assurance, I promised to give her a very sweet & soft look.
Here she is before and after :

For her base, I had no trouble smoothing out as she had one of the most finest skin I've seen.
So I focused more on her eyes which were rather inverted.

I simply used m.a.c's shadow in Ricepaper as her base and defined it with brown shadow & a set of heavy lashes to give her eyes more omph!

Lips were simply finished off with a pale pink from Laura Mercier & blushed from m.a.c's dollymix.

Bridal Makeup for Nikah Ceremony @ Masjid Likas

This marriage I will never forget.
Marina was introduced to me via my schoolmate Doria who works together with her in KL.
After viewing my blog and a pleasant meeting, she finally booked me in the nick of time as I already had other engagements on the same day!
Here is Marina before :

For her nikah ceremony, Marina's requirements were simple :
The main idea was to still look like herself but in a more fresh & beautiful way.

Basically her skin was prepped with m.a.c's strobe cream to give her that inner glow. Her base was then finished off lightly with m.a.c's studio fix powder to give her that barely there, clear morning skin look.
For her eyes, I did a basic highlight & lined her top lid with dark brown liner for a natural look.
Brows were simply filled with brown shadow to give that warm feel & was finished off with my latest lip shade in Baby Pink and topped off with gloss.

They really are happy together and as you can see, pictures can tell more than words sometimes.
